Epitalon: Can a peptide actually slow down aging?
Next-level anti-aging substance
That longevity is only partly genetically determined and is significantly influenced by other factors – such as a suitable diet – is now considered proven [ 1 ]. However, specific anti-aging substances are increasingly coming into focus in aging research. The peptide epitalone is considered particularly interesting: it is not only a very potent antioxidant, but also has the property of protecting telomeres (the microscopic protective caps at the ends of chromosomes) in living organisms from premature degeneration [ 2 ]. Stable telomeres are considered an important prerequisite for a long life; degenerated telomeres, on the other hand, have a life-shortening effect [ 3 ]. This means that, according to current knowledge, epitalone can actively contribute to a long lifespan.
Activation of telomerase
This property of epitalone is essentially based on its activation of the enzyme telomerase. Telomerase lengthens telomeres, which constantly shorten as part of the natural aging process – and the longer the telomeres, the more resistant the organism is to cell degeneration. Animal studies have also shown that the administration of epitalone counteracts cell mutation-related diseases such as leukemia [ 4 ].
Promising for female and male bodybuilders
Of particular interest to bodybuilders: Epitalon can promote the reactivation of the endocrine system in cases of hypothalamic dysfunction [ 5 ]. Hormonal imbalances, which are common in bodybuilders due to drug abuse, could thus be resolved very quickly and without the use of medication (which also has side effects). The chapter on "post-cycle therapy" in bodybuilding may therefore need to be completely rewritten.
Overview of Epitalon's properties
Various studies, both in vivo animal studies and human studies, suggest that epitalon slows down age-related telomere shortening (by activating the enzyme telomerase), promotes a youthful appearance of the skin, has a strong antioxidant effect (as it reduces lipid oxidation), increases resistance to the negative effects of stress, supports the hormonal system (especially in cases of hormonal imbalances), generally improves the organism's regenerative capacity, and contributes to a normalization of melatonin levels, which is beneficial to sleep quality.
Dosage and administration
Please note that a single drop from the pipette is too generous a dose and does not correspond to the recommended serving size. For example, approximately 3-4 drops from the pipette are sufficient for 3mg.
