Epitalon capsules: The longevity peptide in a practical capsule form
N-ACETYL-EPITALONE FOR ORAL ABSORPTION
Epitalon (also called "epithalon" or "epithalamin") is a peptide discovered in 1991 by the Russian scientist Vladimir Khavinson and has since become one of the most popular anti-aging supplements. Why? Because longevity research has shown that epitalon lengthens telomeres in the blood cells of older people [ 1 ] – and telomere length is directly related to life expectancy [ 2 ]. But that's not all: epitalon also appears to inhibit the synthesis of the MMP9 protein in aging skin fibroblasts. This means that the peptide slows down cellular aging in skin cells and can therefore at least delay the visible signs of aging [ 3 ]. Furthermore, epitalon is apparently able to stop or even reverse the natural degeneration of the thymus gland. (The thymus gland is an important part of the immune system.) In animal studies with mice suffering from cancer, epitalon was also able to reduce the number of metastases [ 4 ]. In fact, the peptide appears to have oncostatic (= cancer growth-inhibiting) properties.
RELEVANCE FOR BODYBUILDING
Epitalon is likely to be of particular interest to bodybuilders for several other reasons: Firstly, it has a strong antioxidant effect, meaning it reduces oxidative stress and counteracts inflammatory processes. Secondly, it can help restore the natural testosterone-estrogen balance in cases of hormonal imbalance. This makes it an excellent addition to post-cycle therapy (PCT). It could even potentially replace the medication components of a traditional PCT.
THE EFFECTS OF EPITALON AT A GLANCE
Epitalon can
- counteract the biological aging process in general (by lengthening telomeres),
- to help maintain a youthful-looking complexion,
- to reduce inflammatory processes,
- to support the hormonal system and, if necessary, to balance hormonal imbalances and
- inhibit the spread and growth of tumor cells in cancer.
Epitalon as a capsule preparation
Epitalon is considered sensitive to digestive enzymes, which is why it is preferably sold as a liquid preparation (for absorption via the mucous membranes, see our product Epitalon Drops ) or as a powder for mixing an injection solution. However, we have succeeded in converting the peptide into a modified form (N-acetyl-epitalon) that exhibits relatively high stability during enzymatic degradation. An advantage of this form is that it also works as a capsule preparation.
APPLICATION AND DOSAGE
In scientific human studies on the effects of epitalon, participants received 10 mg by injection every three days (approximately 3 mg/day). However, since epitalon is not yet approved as a drug or supplement by either the US FDA or the European Medicines Agency (EMA), we explicitly do not provide a dosage recommendation for our product.
