UBIQUINONE Q10: ALL-ROUND VITAL SUBSTANCE FROM LONGEVITY RESEARCH
HIGH-DOSE COENZYME Q10
Ubiquinone (German spelling: ubichinon), better known as "Q10," is one of the most versatile vital substances. It is known as an energy booster, a sports nutrition supplement, and an anti-aging agent. In science, it is even discussed as a predictor of mortality in chronic heart failure [ 1 ]. Q10 is found in all cells and is particularly important for energy production: Over 95% of the body's total energy is provided with the involvement of Q10. The Q10 concentration is therefore particularly high in the organs with the greatest energy demand—especially the heart. However, the Q10 concentration in organs decreases with age. For example, the heart of an 80-year-old person has only about 40 to 60 percent of the Q10 concentration of a 20-year-old person [ 2 ]. Q10, or ubiquinone, therefore plays an important role in longevity research. It is assumed that the body's ability to produce Q10 decreases over the course of life and that external supply of Q10 has a potentially life-extending effect.
BENEFITS OF Q10 (UBICHINONE) FOR THE BODY
- Q10 can act as an antioxidant to protect cells from oxidative damage caused by so-called “free radicals” [ 3 ].
- Q10 stimulates mitochondrial function and may help protect against age-related diseases [ 4 ].
- In people with high blood pressure, the administration of coenzyme Q10 can lower blood pressure levels [ 5 ].
- Coenzyme Q10 treatment in patients with chronic heart failure improves symptoms and reduces the likelihood of serious failures [ 6 ].
The last two points are particularly interesting for bodybuilders, as both blood pressure and heart health are two of the biggest "issues" in competitive bodybuilding.
ADVANTAGES OF OUR UBIQUINONE Q10 CAPSULES
Our ubiquinone Q10 capsules each contain 200 mg of Q10, making them a very high dose. (Most Q10 supplements on the market contain only 30–100 mg per capsule.) Furthermore, the active ingredient is in the form of KANEKA Q10®. KANEKA Q10® is a form of Q10 derived from yeast and is bioidentical to the body's own coenzyme Q10. It is free of any foreign substances that are typically produced during the synthetic manufacture of CoQ10.
APPLICATION AND DOSAGE
One capsule should be taken daily, preferably directly after a meal. The capsules should be swallowed whole with water.
